What is SakuOS?

“An OS that begins from what you don’t need.” SakuOS is a lightweight and minimal OS designed to revive old or unused PCs.

Whether it’s a PC you no longer use, a laptop sleeping in your closet, or a machine you were about to throw away—SakuOS gives it one last purpose.

At the center of the UI is the Trash Bin. By learning from deleted files and app history, it gradually adapts to your preferences. The goal is an OS that reveals only what truly matters.

Main Features

Lightweight, simple, and a little ironic. SakuOS aims for a balance of “not too serious, but actually usable.”

Performance
Smooth on Old PCs

Designed for low-spec environments. Even machines with around 2GB RAM can handle everyday tasks comfortably.

UI Concept
Trash Bin–Centered Desktop

The Trash Bin is the star of the desktop. A unique launcher will highlight “what you truly need” based on deleted files and uninstalled apps.

Minimalism
Start with the Essentials

No unnecessary apps included. Just a browser, text editor, terminal, and the basics you need to get started.

Philosophy
An OS That Makes You Think About “What to Keep”

SakuOS isn’t just a lightweight OS— it’s a chance to rethink what you keep and what you throw away.

Download

This is a test release as the OS is still under development. Installing on real hardware is at your own risk.

Currently CLI-only. GUI is under development. Installation is not supported.
